Information from the Registrar
Who Can Participate
The following groups of students will be invited to participate in Commencement exercises held at the close of the Spring 2025 term:
- (A) Students who have completed degree requirements prior to Commencement.
- (B) Students who will, at the end of the spring term, have earned at least a 2.0 overall, major and INQ grade point average. The students must pre-register for the outstanding course work and have made any appropriate deposits so that completion of degree requirements will occur no later than the end of the summer term (July 28, 2025)
- A notation of "Anticipated August Graduate" will be included in the Commencement program beside the names of students in group (B). Following the completion of all degree requirements, a diploma will be ordered and mailed to the student's home address. Further, candidates with outstanding financial obligations are not allowed to participate in Commencement so it's important that you complete all payments to the College prior to Commencement.
Seniors, you will receive an email in mid-April to access a system so you can give us the pronunciation of your name:
As 2025 Commencement approaches, we would like to say congratulations! We are excited for you in this accomplishment and want to verify that we pronounce your name, as you walk across the stage, correctly. Please record a video saying your first, middle, and last name clearly (please state your name twice), so that we can review before Commencement. Please complete by Monday, April 28. Thanks!

Diplomas
On Commencement Day, graduates will receive a Maroon tube with a letter from President Shushok and other information when they cross the stage to be recognized. We will still certify and recognize Latin honors, valedictorians, and salutatorians.
Your diploma will be mailed to you approximately 6-8 weeks after Commencement. Diplomas are mailed to the home address on record in Self Service. Confirmation emails will be sent to each graduate when a diploma is shipped.
In April, an email will be sent by the registrar’s office to confirm your diploma name, degree information and mailing address. To verify your mailing address at any time, check your user profile in Self Service. To update your mailing address, contact the registrar’s office at registrar@roanoke.edu.
