Roanoke College is pleased to welcome David Meadows, who will serve as its next vice president for finance and administration and treasurer on an interim basis, joining the college’s senior leadership team and reporting to President Frank Shushok Jr.
Meadows brings more than 30 years of business and financial management experience that will be key to the advancement of Roanoke’s strategic plan, “Imagine Roanoke,” including extensive familiarity with the higher education sector. In multiple cabinet-level positions for colleges and universities, he has contributed forward-thinking financial stewardship, strategic leadership and institutional impact.
"We're fortunate to welcome David Meadows to Roanoke College. His extensive experience in higher education finance and proven track record of strategic leadership will be invaluable as we advance 'Imagine Roanoke' and strengthen our financial resilience,” Shushok said. “David's collaborative approach aligns perfectly with our values, and I'm confident his leadership will help us continue building a sustainable foundation that supports student success and our mission. I look forward to working alongside him as we write the next chapter of Roanoke College's story together."
Meadows served most recently as vice president for finance and facilities/chief financial officer for the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, West Virginia. Through his leadership of key administrative and operational divisions at the state’s largest medical school, he spearheaded significant cost savings, helped guide infrastructure improvements and improved efficiency and profitability.
Meadows has held similar positions at Carlow University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Governors State University in University Park, Illinois; and Virginia State University in Richmond, Virginia. Before entering the world of higher education, he worked in finance positions within the public sector for both the government of the District of Columbia and the Richmond (Virginia) Police Department. He began his career in the private sector with positions at SunTrust, Banc One (now Chase) and American Express.
Meadows holds a degree in business administration and finance from Cleveland State University and an MBA from Averett University. He said he is excited to return to Virginia, roll up his sleeves and contribute as the college strives to create a brighter future for its students and community.
“I am excited and honored to assume the position of interim vice president for finance and administration,” Meadows said. “Having previously resided in Virginia for more than 20 years, I am thrilled to be coming back to the commonwealth to work with President Shushok, the Roanoke College leadership team and the finance and administration staff as we progress through the strategic plan. I sincerely look forward to joining the Maroons community!”
His first day on the job at Roanoke will be Monday, Feb. 2, 2026.
